BAR SK Playground
BAR SK Playground was a weekend-long public exhibition and celebration of Melbourne's independent games and digital arts community, presented as part of ACMI's Art After Dark program. The event showcased interactive artworks, experimental games, custom arcade installations and creative projects developed through BAR SK, the influential Melbourne gallery and community space I founded back in 2016.
I worked closely with ACMI to curate the exhibition and transformed the venue into a playable creative playground that encouraged visitors to explore games, digital art and interactive experiences in a social setting. Drawing on years of programming exhibitions through BAR SK Gallery, the event platformed the work of local artists, game developers and creative technologists while introducing new audiences to Melbourne's independent games culture.
The event attracted a diverse audience of artists, gamers, students and members of the public, helping bridge the gap between contemporary art and interactive media. Hosted by one of Australia's leading screen culture institutions, the exhibition demonstrated the growing recognition of games as a cultural and artistic medium while celebrating the legacy of one of Melbourne's most influential independent creative spaces.
