ELECTRIC ARCADIA

Client: Melbourne International Games Week, Creative Victoria & Fed Square

Electric Arcadia transformed Fed Square into a nostalgic, post-apocalyptic arcade inspired by the amusement plazas of the 1980s and 90s.

Created in collaboration with artist Callum Preston, the week-long installation blended classic arcade culture with contemporary Australian independent games, inviting thousands of visitors to step into a fully playable, immersive environment.

I brought play to the space by designing and building the custom arcade cabinets, selecting and curating the featured games, and working directly with independent developers to adapt their titles for arcade play.

Each cabinet was purpose-built and hand-finished to create a unique visual identity while celebrating Australia's thriving independent games scene and fit within the themed Arcade designed by Callum Preston.

As the centrepiece of Big Games Night Out during Melbourne International Games Week, Electric Arcadia attracted large public audiences as part of Australia's largest free celebration of games culture. The project received extensive coverage from ArtsHub, Fed Square, Melbourne International Games Week and Big Games Night Out, highlighting its innovative blend of public art, nostalgia and interactive play.
